Nottingham Forest have been in brilliant form during the 2024/25 campaign and it will be consigned to the history books as a truly memorable campaign.
The Reds have had a number of standout performers during the campaign, with Nuno Espirito Santo benefiting from a more structured approach to making transfers last summer.
Nikola Milenkovic has been colossal after arriving for £12 million from Fiorentina, whilst Gary Neville has raved about Elliot Anderson this season following his move from Newcastle.
Between the posts, Matz Sels has been brilliant, whilst without the 20 goals scored by Chris Wood, who knows which position Forest would hold in the Premier League table.
Alan Shearer has praised a number of Forest performers over the course of the season and of all the pundits, he’s been among the more positive when it comes to the Reds. Until now…

Alan Shearer names no Nottingham Forest players in Team of the Year
It’s quite something that on a weekly basis, Shearer has been naming Forest players in his Team of the Week, but when it comes to his choices for the entire campaign, he’s omitted everyone.
There have been a few honourable mentions, but nobody has made the cut, with Chris Wood, Matz Sels and Nikola Milenkovic all overlooked by Shearer.
It’s quite remarkable that he’s not named any of the players who have spent all season performing well in the Premier League in his team.
Naturally, it’s hard to please every fan base with these selections but the fact that the full-backs are made up of players from Crystal Palace and Bournemouth is nothing short of ridiculous.
What Alan Shearer said about Nikola Milenkovic
It appears as though Shearer found it the hardest decision to omit Milenkovic from the heart of his back four, and he did have some praise for the Serbian on the Premier League’s official website.
He said: “It was a close call between William Saliba and Forest defender Nikola Milenkovic, who has had a fantastic campaign helping secure European football next season.”
It’s unfathomable that Shearer has come to this decision regarding Forest and there will definitely be a sense that he’s done the dirty on the Reds a little bit with this big call.
