Nottingham Forest are looking to strengthen their squad in a number of areas this summer.

On Sunday, it was confirmed that Forest will take part in the UEFA Conference League next season following a seventh-place finish in the Premier League.

Forest have been linked with wonderkid Roony Bardghji this summer, and it does feel as though forwards will very much be the order of the day.

Chris Wood scored 20 goals last season, but behind him, Taiwo Awoniyi scored just one and the Reds will want a contingency plan for their top goalscorer.

It would seem as though defenders are going to be in the sights of Forest too, with the club liking two players from one club.

Nottingham Forest eye two Udinese defenders

It does feel as though a centre-back or two are on the radar this summer to complement the likes of Nikola Milenkovic and Murillo in the Forest squad.

According to Il Messaggero Veneto, Forest have placed Udinese pair Jaka Bijol and Oumar Solet on their transfer shortlist ahead of the window reopening.

Both players have been mainstays in the team at Udinese this season, with the team securing a 12th-place finish in their league campaign.

It’s now believed that the club have to sell in order to buy and the two central defenders are a couple of players who the club feels will bring in the most substantial transfer fees.

The report suggests that Bijol is worth £20 million, with Solet being valued slightly higher, around the £30 million mark, ahead of the transfer window.

Nuno Espirito Santo wanted Jaka Bijol in 2024

The central defender was one of the stars of Euro 2024, with Bijol earning praise for his performance in stifling Cristiano Ronaldo whilst playing for Slovenia.

Bijol was part of the national team that helped Slovenia reach the knockout stages of the competition before losing on penalties to Portugal.

Now, Forest might be stepping up their attempts to sign Bijol, with the club landing Milenkovic and Morato instead during the summer of 2024.

The 61-time international looks like a talented performer with experience in a top European league, and at 26-years-old he fits the profile of what Forest might look to land.
