Nottingham Forest News can exclusively reveal why the arrival of Igor Jesus has not been announced just yet.
It’s been getting on for two weeks since it was announced that Forest would be signing Jesus.
However, there has been radio silence ever since, despite Jesus waving goodbye to Botafogo fans ahead of their trip to the United States to play in the Club World Cup.
It’s previously been claimed that Forest are paying £16.8 million for Jesus, and if that’s to be believed, it represents extremely good value for money.
Given how quiet things have been, however, fans are starting to get anxious, but an update has now come to light.

Why Nottingham Forest haven’t announced Igor Jesus yet
There doesn’t appear to be any major rush with the official announcement, and it appears that everything will go through in a smooth fashion.
Graeme Bailey has exclusively told Nottingham Forest News that the intention has always been to announce the deal at a later date, with the Club World Cup taking immediate priority.
He said: “Botafogo are at the Club World Cup, so that’s just part of the deal really. We saw the same with Estavao and Chelsea; he’s playing for Palmeiras, and there’s also Franco Mastantuono as well, so there are a few deals like this. It’s all part of the deal that he will play at the Club World Cup, but everything is agreed.”
Jesus has scored seven goals so far during the 2025 campaign and will link up with Forest to compete for a place in the team alongside Chris Wood and Taiwo Awoniyi.
Nottingham Forest will be busy this summer
It’s been claimed by a number of sources that Forest will be busy this summer, and it’s badly needed.
Players need to leave Forest just as much as the incoming business, with Lewis O’Brien now linked with three EFL clubs.
Forest will be keen to keep hold of their top players. Anthony Elanga is wanted by Newcastle, but with a £60 million valuation he could remain at the City Ground.
The Reds have a number of voids to try and fill and with European football on the cards next season, better strength in depth will be desperately sought by Forest.
