‘Agreement reached’ as Nottingham Forest assistant António Dias will be Jose Mourinho’s new assistant

It has been reported by journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu on X, formerly known as Twitter, that Nottingham Forest’s assistant António Dias will be Jose Mourinho’s new assistant.

This will see him leave England for a new career in Turkey with Fenerbahçe as the Portuguese manager attempts to win the title with the Istanbul club.

Fans will be disappointed about his decision to leave the two-time European Cup winners to join the Turkish giant, but they will trust the club won’t feel the impact of losing their assistant.

It will now mean Nuno Espírito Santo will need to find a new assistant ahead of the upcoming season to continue the good work of last year.

Nottingham Forest saw the greatest progression across Europe’s top five leagues

Dias was part of the coaching staff that brought about an incredible feat for the club last season.

Nottingham Forest were the side that saw the most progression in terms of points from the 2023/24 season to the 2024/25 campaign.

Nuno’s side finished the 2023/24 season with 32 points and in 17th in the Premier League.

Yet, 12 months later, they finished seventh in the English top flight with 65 points.

This is a 33-point improvement across a season, demonstrating the positive impact Nuno had upon the Forest squad and how the players performed at such an incredible level.

Napoli were the club that saw the next greatest improvement across the top five leagues in Europe, as they improved by 29 points, while PSG only saw an eight-point improvement.
