When it comes to signing Brazilian players, Nottingham Forest are always at the front of the queue.
Forest have an intriguing history in the transfer market since winning promotion, with a number of South American stars being added to the City Ground ranks.
Murillo is the most successful Forest signing from that part of the world. He won the Player of the Year accolade in his first season and was once again in fine form during 2024/25.
Manchester City ignored Murillo before Forest signed him and now he has the vast majority of Europe’s elite clubs looking at him ahead of a potential transfer in the future.
Danilo will join Lyon this summer, but he’s another success story. He helped Forest stay up in 2022/23 and after joining from Palmeiras for £16 million, it looks like the Reds will make a small profit on him.

Nottingham Forest send scout to watch Richard Rios in Club World Cup action
According to Give Me Sport, Rios is on the radar of Forest, with the Palmeiras performer the subject of Premier League interest in previous transfer windows.
If Danilo does depart, the Reds will likely pursue another midfielder, and Rios is being watched by scouts at the Club World Cup.
The 25-year-old has scored four goals in 31 appearances during the 2025 campaign and played for 87 minutes as Palmeiras drew with Benfica in their Club World Cup opener last night.
Rios normally plays as a midfield enforcer and with Douglas Luiz also linked with Forest, it would appear that a natural number six is being targeted.
Rios would be a useful addition to the Forest ranks
Although this would be another signing from South America, Rios would be a useful addition to the ranks to bolster the midfield.
With Nicolas Dominguez injured and likely to miss the start of pre-season, that leaves Elliot Anderson, Ibrahim Sangare and Ryan Yates as competition in the middle of the park.
As a result, Forest look light and perhaps another midfielder will be considered the order of the day now that the transfer window has reopened following a one-week break.
Rios has a minimum fee release clause of £85 million and although it will take nothing close to that in order for Palmeiras to do business, it serves to highlight just how highly rated he is.
