Forest are also in talks to sign Alexis Saelemaekers, with Serie A giants AC Milan demanding around £21m for his signature.

Nottingham Forest fans delighted at Willy Boly’s contract extension

Forest have just announced that Willy Boly has penned a new contract running through to the summer of 2026.

Boly was set to become a free agent next month, but Nuno Espirito Santo has decided to extend his stay at the City Ground.

Forest fans have taken to X, formerly known as Twitter, to react to the news.

“The news I wanted – Willy Boly contract extension. Leader, still has quality, and important in the dressing room,” @ImJamieMartin posted.

“Willy Boly signing a new contract! It’s a stronger appointment than people will think, happy to be a squad player will get minutes in other competitions next season and tbh I prefer him to Morato,” @Jt7526268560263 added.

@NFFCUREDS83 commented: “Invaluable experience and can fill in when required, putting in a shift, a no-brainer decision.”

“Good move. Won’t play that often but his experience will be vital around the squad,” @warrenallsworth said.

@DNOnMAZ9 explained: “Good news, I do believe that if we are under the cosh and need a proper head it and kick it defender to come on he’s still better suited to that than Morato. Never ever let us down!

“Experienced leader and solid 4/5th choice,” @GaribaldiNerd noted.

Boly excited for the new season

After penning his new deal, Boly admitted that he’s really excited to see what the club can achieve next season.

“I am very happy to have signed a new contract with the Club and look forward to another season with such a great team and supporters,” the 34-year-old said.

“We need to build on what was a great season and I am excited to see what we can achieve as a squad this year.”

Chief Football Officer, Ross Wilson added: “Willy is an experienced Premier League player who adds a lot of value to our squad, and we are pleased he has signed a new deal.

“An extremely dedicated professional, Willy has played at the highest level for a long time and he contributed significantly to the teams successful season last year.

“He is passionate about winning football matches, and with his leadership qualities and ability to speak multiple languages, he connects the group and helps those around him.

“We wish him all the best for the season ahead.”
