Nottingham Forest are exploring a deal to sign Ajax and England midfielder Jordan Henderson.
It emerged on Tuesday morning that Nottingham Forest are eyeing Jordan Henderson, with a clause in his Ajax contract that would allow him to walk on a free transfer before mid-July.
Henderson has been at Ajax since January 2024, following a short stint in the Saudi Pro League with Al-Ettifaq.
The 35-year-old wanted to return to the Premier League at the time, so that may remain his stance this window.
Nottingham Forest fans have been reacting to the potential Henderson transfer on X, formerly known as Twitter, and they’re all saying the same thing.

Nottingham Forest fans really don’t want Jordan Henderson
Forest fans are all in total agreement that Henderson wouldn’t be a good signing, and in fact, they’re really hoping a transfer doesn’t materialise.
@JDunny1994 explained: “I know we probably need a captain figure in the middle of the park, but 35 YO Jordan Henderson ain’t it.”
@larsbohemian posted: “I’ll hand my ST back.”
“Let him got to Sunderland please,” @everybdy8schris said.
@joel_francis363 added: “If we genuinely get him somehow I’m not watching.”
“Will not be attending if that’s the case,” @JakeBoxeo commented.
“I will blame him for literally everything if we signed him,” @Adam_Webster96 admitted.
Nottingham Forest should focus on signing Douglas Luiz
Of all the midfielders linked to the City Ground this summer, Henderson does appear to be one of the most underwhelming.
The veteran has been out of the Premier League for two seasons now, and there would be question marks about whether he could readjust to the physicality and intensity.
Forest should be focused on signing Douglas Luiz, who is expected to leave Serie A giants Juventus for around £30m this summer.
Luiz, who is eight years younger, would be a much more exciting addition and one that’d actually be an upgrade on the current options.
Southampton’s Matheus Fernandes has also been linked to Forest and seems a better option.
