Nottingham Forest will be trying to do some business this summer, but it won’t all be about signing players for the Reds.
A number of players will be deemed surplus to requirements, with Lewis O’Brien subject to interest from EFL clubs ahead of next season.
Josh Bowler and Emmanuel Dennis are also part of the unwanted group, and the hope will be that clubs can be found for those two players, too.
Last night, some news came to light that could damage Forest when it comes to offloading two players.
Danilo is being eyed by Lyon this summer, but last night it was announced that they’ve been relegated to Ligue 2 based on the breach of some financial regulations.
Furthermore, Matt Turner was also going to Lyon, and now it’s not certain what the future holds for the Brazilian or the American goalkeeper.

Journalist delivers update on Matt Turner to Lyon
If Danilo ends up staying at the City Ground, it won’t be the end of the world, but fans will fear that the club will be stuck with Turner.
With that in mind, an update from USA journalist Tom Bogert might offer some positivity for Forest after he was quizzed on the Turner situation based on Lyon’s current predicament.
He said on X: “Several people have asked me about Matt Turner’s future with Lyon being provisionally relegated to Ligue 2 over financial issues: For now, nothing has changed for Turner. Lyon will appeal and are hopeful to get it overturned. If so, the deal is still on. If not? We’ll revisit.”
Turner was dropped by Nuno Espirito Santo shortly after joining the club, with Matz Sels arriving and making the number one spot his own.
Turner way down the pecking order at Forest
It’s been claimed that Forest would like to sign a new goalkeeper in the future, and that doesn’t come as a surprise.
Sels won the Golden Glove last season, but at 33, the chances of him playing in every competition next season do feel relatively remote.
Carlos Miguel hasn’t really looked competent in the appearances he’s made for the club, and that could lead to a younger keeper coming in and competing with Sels.
Turner has proved a bad signing for Forest, and if Lyon do back out of a deal, it poses the question of what is next for the American number one.
