The case of Nottingham Forest and Timothy Weah could be set to drag on a little bit with contrasting reports starting to do the rounds.
Forest are keen to add a number of new players to their ranks before the season gets underway in August.
Igor Jesus will sign for Forest after the Club World Cup, with his performances catching the eye for Botafogo.
Other players will be sought after, with Samuel Mbangula linked with Forest from Juventus.
It’s believed that he is keen to sign for Forest this summer, but the future of Weah – also linked with Forest – appears to be somewhat uncertain at the moment.

Contrasting reports emerge on Timothy Weah to Nottingham Forest
Right now, the player is at the Club World Cup with Juventus and it seems as though the media can’t make their minds up.
This feels a little bit like it could go in the direction of last summer, when Santiago Gimenez rejected Forest, despite reportedly agreeing to a transfer.
The Athletic claimed last night that discussions are still ongoing between Juventus and Forest regarding the possibility of securing Weah.
However, it’s believed that the talks have not progressed to personal terms with the American player still out in the United States playing at the Club World Cup.
Therefore, the forward is focused on that but they don’t suggest anything about the player’s desires for the window in general.
Step forward Rudy Galetti…
The Team Talk journalist has posted on X: “Everything confirmed: although many clubs are interested, Timothy Weah is NOT in talks with any of them – not even Forest, despite recent reports. The player is fully focused on Juventus and, if all goes to plan, he’ll be staying with them next season.”
Forest should still press ahead with Mbangula
Being brutally honest, of the two players, Mbangula is the one with the higher ceiling.
Weah would be capable of coming in and improving the squad depth at Forest considerably but at 25-years-old, the club would be needing him to make an immediate impact.
Mbangula looks like an upgrade on both Ramon Sosa and Jota Silva, with the Belgian likely capable of providing serious competition for Callum Hudson-Odoi.
Weah looks like being a situation that could rumble on and on but as soon as Juventus exit the Club World Cup, signing Mbangula needs to be a priority.
