Nottingham Forest are now edging closer to the signing of Igor Jesus after Botafogo were dumped out of the Club World Cup by Palmeiras.

The striker has been linked with Forest all summer, with Jesus already waving goodbye to the supporters at a Botafogo home game prior to the United States competition.

Jesus will sign for Forest to add firepower to the ranks and improve the competition for a place up front alongside Chris Wood and Taiwo Awoniyi.

Forest are looking at other players this summer too, with Nuno Espirito Santo keen to bring as many as four new faces to the City Ground in time for next season kicking off.

Nottingham Forest set to sign Igor Jesus

According to The Telegraph scribe, John Percy, Forest are now close to getting their hands on Jesus and getting a deal over the line.

Jesus has now passed a medical with Forest, sending representatives of the club out to the Club World Cup to try and hurry things through following a 1-0 defeat for Botafogo on Saturday.

Jesus enjoyed a decent tournament in the United States, scoring two goals, including the winning goal against PSG in his team’s second group game.

The 24-year-old will now move to Forest in the coming days, with an announcement seemingly imminent, with Jesus set on the move to the Premier League.

How much Forest will pay for Igor Jesus

In a further twist, it was originally believed that Forest would pay around £17 million to land Jesus, but the fee now reported is considerably less.

Jesus is moving to England in a deal worth £10 million, and that represents serious value for money considering the potential that the player boasts.

Forest will have the UEFA Conference League in their sights next season, and signing a player like Jesus will significantly enhance the team’s striking options.

Jesus has bagged three goals in 10 games for Botafogo during the 2025 campaign and after some positive displays in the Club World Cup, he should arrive full of confidence.
