Nottingham Forest are back in training ahead of the new season, with new signings desperately needed at the City Ground.

Forest are considerably weaker right now than they were at the end of last season, with Morgan Gibbs-White looking likely to join Tottenham in the coming weeks.

Anthony Elanga has already joined Newcastle this month for a fee of £60 million and he will take some serious replacing at the City Ground.

There have been some incoming deals at the club, with Igor Jesus joining Forest along with his Botafogo teammate Jair Cunha.

With training in full swing, there have been some interesting sights emerging from the training ground and it would appear that a Nuno Espirito Santo favourite is getting back to work on Trentside.

Nicolas Dominguez returns to pre-season training

All eyes might have been on Gibbs-White this week in training, but the players who will definitely still be at the club in September are the most important ones to Espirito Santo.

With that in mind, it’s been great to see Nicolas Dominguez come back through the door at the City Ground after a turbulent summer recovering from a knee problem.

The midfielder was a constant in Espirito Santo’s team last season, but Dominguez picked up a knee injury during the final game of the campaign.

He was spotted on social media after the 1-0 defeat to Chelsea with a sizeable knee brace on and it was feared his recovery would be extensive.

However, he’s been spotted in the new training gear and it would appear that his recovery could now be ahead of schedule.

Dominguez vital to Forest fortunes

With Gibbs-White likely to leave, Forest could go 4-3-3 next season, and that could really help push Dominguez to another level.

The Argentine was a standout performer last season and remains arguably the most underrated player in the Forest dressing room.

Dominguez would have been a really big miss for the start of the season, but now it would appear that his knee is getting better each day.

Taiwo Awoniyi was also spotted in the training video posted by Forest and after his intestine surgery, that also represents good news.

Dominguez is the one that fans will be keeping an eye on, however, and next season could be a really big season for the midfielder as he looks to help Forest adapt to a new way of playing.
