Nottingham Forest face anxious wait as manager delivers worrying verdict on Dan Ndoye

He might not be a Nottingham Forest player just yet, but the Reds are already sweating on the fitness of Bologna star Dan Ndoye.

It was announced yesterday that Forest had bid for Ndoye ahead of Napoli, who have also been keen to sign the Serie A star.

Forest have sold Anthony Elanga to Newcastle this summer and a replacement for the Swedish performer is badly needed before the season gets underway.

Yesterday, Bologna faced Virtus Verona in a friendly and after being linked with Ndoye just hours before, Forest fans were keen to see how the Switzerland international performed.

Dan Ndoye suffers injury in pre-season friendly

The 24-year-old lined up against the Italian minnows but was forced off after just four minutes after suffering an injury.

He was on the wrong end of a robust challenge just 20 seconds into the contest and although he tried to play on, it wasn’t possible and off he went.

In positive news for Forest, Ndoye did walk off the pitch but it will remain to be seen whether this now holds up any possible transfer for the Swiss star.

Ndoye has apparently already said yes to the proposal of personal terms offered by Forest and right now, it’s all about trying to agree on a fee with Bologna.

What Vincenzo Italiano has said about Dan Ndoye

The winger would be a quality addition to the Forest ranks and he does feel like a suitable replacement for Elanga from a Forest perspective.

Italiano didn’t appear to be concerned about Ndoye’s injury after the game against lower league opposition and was quizzed on it afterwards.

He said: “He told me he twisted his ankle. Better not to take risks in a friendly. I hope it’s not serious. It’s not ideal to miss training sessions during the retreat. I hope it’s just a minor discomfort.”

Now, Forest will hope for some positive news on the injury as the club looks to press ahead and complete this deal before other clubs come calling for his services.
