Nottingham Forest are still leaving no stone unturned in the quest to sign new players to bolster the ranks.

Nuno Espirito Santo won’t be happy that Anthony Elanga has been sold to Newcastle, with Danilo, Ramon Sosa and Andrew Omobamidele also making moves this summer.

Igor Jesus has signed for Forest and he’s been added to the ranks alongside his Botafogo teammate Jair Cunha.

Dan Ndoye is one player liked by Forest and the hope is that he can be added to the ranks pretty quickly ahead of Napoli who also like him.

Forest are looking far and wide for players to bolster Espirito Santo’s squad and now another domestic-based player has been added to the list.

Nottingham Forest want Chelsea star Christopher Nkunku

Simon Phillips is the man with his finger on the pulse when it comes to transfer gossip at Stamford Bridge and he’s said Forest fancy Nkunku via Substack.

Chelsea added Nkunku to their ranks for £52 million but will now consider losing money on him in order to sanction a sale this summer.

Forest aren’t alone in the race to sign him, with Manchester United, Newcastle, Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig also keen to sign the forward.

Nkunku has scored 18 goals in 62 appearances for Chelsea but it’s fair to say that he’s never really been considered a regular in the team.

The 27-year-old started just nine games in the Premier League last season and also missed the UEFA Conference League final against Real Betis.

Nkunku would be very useful squad player

If the price is right, Nkunku could prove to be a very useful addition to the Forest squad as Espirito Santo looks for more forward players.

Nkunku still managed to score 15 goals and claim five assists last season despite struggling for game time in the Premier League.

Thierry Henry knows quality when he sees it and back in 2022, he heaped praise on Nkunku who he said he just loved to watch play.

He told CBS Sports: “Yes, I do love watching him. Goals and assists. He is just having fun this season, but he’s adding goals this year.

“He’s in the national team now. His confidence… the world wants him.”

Forest might not be prioritising Nkunku at the moment but if a deal can be struck to land the talented Frenchman, it could prove to be a very successful deal indeed.
