It’s been a chaotic day at Nottingham Forest, with Nuno Espirito Santo’s future thrown into doubt.

Nuno admitted that his relationship with Evangelos Marinakis is not good ahead of this weekend’s clash against Brighton and Hove Albion.

The Nottingham Forest manager also explained that there is no smoke without fire amid reports that the club were considering sacking him.

Already, there are managers being linked with the Forest job, and supporters can’t quite believe who Marinakis is reportedly considering to replace Espirito Santo.

Nottingham Forest considering Ange Postecoglou to replace Nuno Espirito Santo

Reports in Spain suggest that Nottingham Forest are considering hiring former Tottenham Hotspur and Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou.

The Australian head coach was controversially sacked by the North Londoners after winning the Europa League last season.

Forest fans have swarmed to X, formerly known as Twitter, to react to the potential appointment.

“If we sack Nuno and get Ange, that’s me done for the season. Will be massive unrest in the club, players love him and fans love him. Ange got lucky with the Europa, Spurs were shocking in the league and were all over the place. Marinakis needs to be extremely careful here,” @jobslot6788 posted.

“Marinakis needs to put #NFFC first, regardless of relationship with Nuno and definitely before his friendship with Ange. Nuno is a perfect fit right now and getting rid would be harmful right now and in future trying to attract top quality managers to the club,” @Fpl_salmon commented.

“My seat will be left empty vs West Ham if he sacks nuno, what a ridiculous decision that would be, & if he is replaced with Ange my seat will be left empty for the whole season. F—— pathetic,” @bradleymcd123 added.

@TilehurstRed said: “If the worst happens and Nuno leaves, I really don’t want Ange. Can’t stand him!”

What exactly has Nuno Espirito Santo said about Evangelos Marinakis?

Friday’s press conference at Nottingham Forest has sparked confusion among the fanbase.

Whilst Nuno didn’t directly confirm that he’s leaving, he did appear to suggest that it’s a possibility given the fractured relationship with Marinakis.

“And where there’s smoke, there’s fire, so I know how things work, but I’m here to do my job,” the Forest boss explained amid rumours that he may be sacked.

“I understand, because I’m worried. I’m the first one to be worried. I’m the first one to be concerned.

“I always had a very good relationship with the owner, last season was very close. This season, not so well. No, it’s not [good].

“I don’t know exactly, but I’m being honest with you. I cannot say that is the same, because it’s not the same. The reason behind it, I don’t know.

“I always believe that dialogue and what you say or your opinion, is always valid, because my concern is the squad and the season that we have ahead of us, but our relations have changed.

“I’m being honest with you, I cannot say that is the same, because it’s not the same. The reason behind it, I don’t know.

“The reality is that is not what it used to be. What it used to be was a good, respectful relationship, but was more based on trust and sharing opinions, and now it’s not so good.”
