Nottingham Forest picked up a point away at Crystal Palace this afternoon.
It’s been a chaotic week at Nottingham Forest, with Nuno Espirito Santo’s future thrown into doubt after coming out and admitting his relationship with Evangelos Marinakis has changed.
It has since emerged that Nuno has had a major fallout with Edu, who joined from Arsenal earlier in the summer.
The Forest boss was keen to focus on the match when asked about the saga, but he did insist that he wants to stay and resolve the situation with Edu and Marinakis.
In terms of the actual football, Forest had their moments and Nuno gave out a number of debuts to the new signings, including James McAtee.
Here is how fans reacted to McAtee’s first minutes in a red shirt.

Nottingham Forest fans react to James McAtee debut vs Crystal Palace
Nottingham Forest supporters swarmed to X, formerly known as Twitter, to heap praise on McAtee’s cameo against Palace.
“McAtee is gonna be a problem, we will see him taking that MGW role I guarantee it sooner rather than later. He’s got a bit of everything for that 10 role and we’ve just a little snippet,” @forestmad80 posted.
“Mcatee is a serious threat to Gibbs-White shirt btw,” @JCReilly31 said.
“McAtee for player of the season by the way. I think we’ve got a Cole Palmer situation on our hands and will explode when given game time. Crazy prediction I know but this kid is gonna light it up,” @forestmad80 explained.
@Dicso82 commented: “So many Forest fans weren’t arsed about Mcatee but I think we might realise he’ll bring a control that MGW can’t really provide. However, not sure Mcatee can provide moments of magic that MGW can… yet! They bring different qualities that will be useful.”
Nuno has a tough decision to make with Morgan Gibbs-White and James McAtee
Morgan Gibbs-White and McAtee are very similar profiles as they both like to operate centrally as a creative midfielder.
That makes it tough to get them both into the same side, so the Portuguese head coach may have to pick between one or the other, and based on that McAtee cameo, it feels harsh leaving him out.
McAtee can ply his trade off the right, having played in that role on several occasions throughout his career.
It’s certainly a good problem to have for Nuno, who now has significant strength in depth.
