Nottingham Forest’s predicted XI vs Crystal Palace as Nuno makes decision on new signings

Nottingham Forest got off to a winning start as they defeated Brentford 3-1 on the opening day of the Premier League.

Next up for the Tricky Trees is an away trip to Selhurst Park today to face Crystal Palace, and following the Europa League drama, the atmosphere is sure to be fiery.

Since the last game, Nuno Espírito Santo has got four new players ready at his disposal, with Douglas Luiz the latest to arrive.

The Forest squad is now much larger, and it will give him a headache when selecting his side, but one he may perhaps welcome.

Ahead of the game, we have pre-empted how Nottingham Forest will line up as big decisions will have to be made about the new arrivals.

The Forest backline

It will come as no surprise that we expect Nottingham Forest’s number one Matz Sels to retain his place between the sticks.

The back four will also remain unchanged for Forest following last week’s impressive performance. With very few options at full-back, it is an easy decision to make for those positions.

Ola Aina and Neco Williams retain their spots, and the formidable partnership of Nikola Milenkovic and Murillo will continue.

The middle of the park

While fans will be hoping to see new signing Douglas Luiz in action, Elliot Anderson and Ibrahima Sangare were both impressive last Sunday.

Anderson picked up a beautiful assist, meanwhile Sangare was praised by Forest fans despite giving away a penalty.

Luiz will be an excellent option off the bench, but for this week, we think he’ll have to settle for minutes as a substitute.

The frontmen

Arnaud Kalimuendo, James McAtee, and Omari Hutchinson have all joined Nottingham Forest, however, we suspect they’ll only be named on the bench.

The front four of Chris Wood, Morgan Gibbs-White, Dan Ndoye, and Callum Hudson-Odoi will be trusted to provide the goals once again.

It was a quartet that worked excellently against the Bees last week, and Nuno will be hoping it can do the same against the Eagles.

That completes an unchanged side from the opening day win.

New signings from the bench

While eyes will be on the latest arrivals, you’ll likely have to wait and see them off the Nottingham Forest bench.

Arnaud Kalimuendo would provide another option up front for Chris Wood if needed, and Douglas Luiz would add stability to the midfield.

If chasing a goal, James McAtee could add some extra creativity, and Omari Hutchinson would add fresh legs out wide.

Last week, the Nottingham Forest manager only made three changes, and with four new signings, fans will be hoping to see them all in action as soon as possible.
