Nottingham Forest drew 1-1 with Crystal Palace as the speculation surrounding Nuno Espirito Santo rumbles on.

The Reds salvaged a draw thanks to Callum Hudson-Odoi’s second-half goal that cancelled out Ismaila Sarr’s goal in the 37th minute.

Espirito Santo delivered his verdict on the Forest reports this week before the game, and after this game, there is little doubt that the speculation will remain rife.

Ange Postecoglou has been linked with Forest and that is enough to make anyone wince, with Brendan Rodgers also admired by Evangelos Marinakis.

Now, Espirito Santo has spoken again after the 1-1 draw with Palace and it does feel as though he’s dropped a hint over what he’d like to happen.

Nuno sets Marinakis and Edu demands ahead of crunch Forest talks

It would be great to be a fly on the wall when the meeting takes place in the coming days, and really, this all needs putting to bed as a matter of urgency.

Forest will play West Ham before the international break next Sunday, and with the Hammers in hapless form, the Reds will surely smell blood.

Speaking on the situation, Espirito Santo said in his press conference: “I believe that it’s the only way to operate in a football club, if everybody is on the same page.

“It is helping in the same direction, so hopefully we can do it this week and move forward – and take these nonsense questions and narrative away from our daily lives.”

“Everything is going to be OK for sure. It is the moment to sit down and talk.”

Marinakis has to keep Espirito Santo at Forest

If Marinakis doesn’t want a supporter backlash, he will do whatever it takes to make sure that Espirito Santo is still the Forest manager by the time West Ham come to the City Ground next weekend.

Forest have to make sure they continue in a stable fashion and Espirito Santo has earned the right to lead the team that he’s assembled in Europe this season.

Clearly, the Forest head coach wants to remain in his position and these comments should at least offer supporters some hope for the future.

Now, it will be an uncertain time for Forest as the players and fans await the outcome of the meeting between Marinakis, Edu and Espirito Santo which will ultimately decide the next steps.
