Former Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Ethan Horvath stars for Sheffield Wednesday
Sheffield Wednesday signed former Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Ethan Horvath on a six-month loan deal from Cardiff City this month.
Horvath had a poor debut against Wrexham but bounced back with an incredible performance against Leeds United last night, helping them to advance after saving two penalties in the shootout.
Sheffield Wednesday fans took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to react to the 30-year-old’s display.
“Ethan Horvath btw. Sensational tonight,” @swfc_keegan posted.
@CohenLeaning added: “Never been as happy for a bloke I don’t know, Horvath, incredible performance take a bow.”
“Watch Horvath getting f—— recalled now,” @Jake_swfc1 commented.
@ShireeSwfc said: “ETHAN HORVATH YOU HERO.”
Ethan Horvath reacts after Leeds United win
Horvath has shown immense character over the last week as he’s been chucked in at the deep end following an injury to Wednesday’s first-choice shot-stopper Pierce Charles.
Speaking to the club’s Youtube channel, Horvath said he’s had to learn everyone’s name before his first two games with the Owls.
“For the first game against Wrexham I had to learn 10 names,” he said with a smile.
“Now tonight I had to learn 10 more! But no, it was a top game, and the young defenders did brilliantly. When you play a team of this calibre from the Prem you know they have a lot of offensive attacking players who are quick, with a lot of movement and rotation. So it was just about constant communication, and they did brilliantly.”
