Not every transfer in football will work out, and Nottingham Forest have had their fair few unsuccessful signings.

The recent summer window saw 11 players leave the Tricky Trees on a permanent basis, with Anthony Elanga the headline departure.

There are many players whom Nuno Espirito Santo felt were surplus to requirements who may have gone under the radar.

One such player is Josh Bowler. The winger signed for Nottingham Forest in 2022 for around £2 million, and has now admitted something after leaving in the summer.

Josh Bowler hints that he didn’t feel confidence from Nottingham Forest

Josh Bowler has hinted that Nottingham Forest did not have confidence in him after the winger signed for Blackpool as a free agent.

The player’s contract was mutually terminated in the summer, allowing him to join another club after the deadline.

Speaking to the Blackpool Gazette, Bowler said ‘I’ve now got a club that has confidence in me too, which is all I need.’

‘It’s just about recreating that form and putting it all on the pitch. I’m confident I can do that, as I know I’ll work hard and I know I’ll do everything I can to get back to that.’

It is not hard to see why Bowler feels Forest didn’t have confidence in him. The Englishman never made a professional appearance for the club.

Additionally, he was sent out on loan in each of his three years contracted to the Tricky Trees.

Josh Bowler does not regret Nottingham Forest move

Although the move did not do much for the player’s career, Bowler insists he does not regret making the switch.

He said, ‘You can’t feel regret in football, it’s such a short career. I got a lot of benefits from it.’

Due to the numerous loan moves, Bowler has certainly experienced a lot in football. The player will be able to take that with him.

The transfer ultimately did not pan out as both parties wanted, and Bowler will simply go down in Nottingham Forest history as one of their ‘what ifs’.
