Ange Postecoglou has replaced Nuno Espirito Santo as the new Nottingham Forest manager.

Ange Postecoglou was officially announced on Tuesday, and Evangelos Marinakis is confident he can bring silverware to the City Ground.

“After gaining promotion to the Premier League, then building consistently season after season to secure European football, we now must take the right step to compete with the very best and challenge for trophies,” Marinakis said.

“Ange has the credentials and the track-record to do this, and we are excited he is joining us on our ambitious journey.”

Postecoglou sat down for his first interview this evening and revealed what

Ange Postecoglou on what his style of play will be at Nottingham Forest

Postecoglou spoke to Forest TV on Wednesday and was asked what style of play he is planning to implement at Nottingham Forest.

His answer was pretty clear: to win.

“I’ve got to be careful what I say because everyone has kind of pigeon-holed me throughout my whole career,” Postecoglou explained.

“Look, I love winning. I love winning things. It’s what I’ve done. I want the fans to be excited about watching my team play.

“There’s already an existing sort of mentality within the group of working hard for one another and I want to tap into that.

“And from my perspective, it’s about now putting my own idea in. I love my teams to attack, I love my teams to score goals.

“That’s sometimes misconstrued as me just playing one way, but the reason I want my team to play that way is because I love winning things.”

Ange Postecoglou has shown he can adapt

As Postecoglou referenced, there is a false narrative that his teams only play in one way and that he neglects the defensive side of the game.

That’s completely untrue, and you just have to take a look at how his Tottenham side played in the latter stages of the Europa League.

The Australian head coach adapted and implemented a mid to low block in the final against Manchester United.

Spurs actually won with just 26 per cent possession, producing a defensive masterclass, so Postecoglou will change his philosophy when necessary.
