Plenty of Nottingham Forest’s summer signings got their chance to shine against Swansea City in the Carabao Cup, with Dilane Bakwa in particular taking the limelight.

Ange Postecoglou promised that his tactics would be on show on Wednesday against Swansea, after a difficult start in the away clash against Arsenal.

Alongside this, Postecoglou suggested that he would give new signings a chance in the cup, with the strength of the Forest squad allowing the Reds’ head coach to essentially field a fresh starting XI.

One of those to get his first start in the Garibaldi was French winger Dilane Bakwa, who is already becoming a fan favourite among the City Ground faithful.

Bakwa had a solid cameo against Arsenal in his Forest debut after coming on with an hour played at the Emirates Stadium.

Postecoglou rewarded this promising debut with a start in the pouring rain in South Wales, where he once again impressed the onlooking Forest fans on social media.

One fan said: “Bakwa looks so so good,” while another added: “Bakwa is on another level, got to be starting in the Prem soon.”

Another Forest fan said: “Bakwa will be our player of the season!”, with another saying: “I am absolutely in love with Bakwa.”

One more said: “Bakwa still looking good from the weekend,” with one more adding: “New tactic. Give the ball to Bakwa.”

Dilane Bakwa will provide creativity for Nottingham Forest

While it was Omari Hutchinson and Igor Jesus who were involved in the crucial moment of Forest’s opening goal, Bakwa’s contribution cannot be overlooked.

Bakwa spun his man on the halfway line before playing an inch-perfect ball out to Hutchinson, which put the Swansea defence on the back foot as the Englishman was able to take the ball in his stride.

Dan Ndoye has looked like more of a goalscoring threat on the right for the Reds thus far, but if Postecoglou is looking for more creativity out wide, Bakwa may well be a crucial cog in the new look Forest.
