The Opta supercomputer has delivered its verdict on whether Ange Postecoglou’s Nottingham Forest will beat Sunderland.

The stats engine has already predicted Nottingham Forest as third favourites to lift the Europa League this season.

Wednesday night’s European affair was met with mixed reactions. The Spanish press blasted Nottingham Forest, but closer to home soil, Simon Jordan said it was an accomplished performance.

All focus is now on Saturday afternoon against Sunderland, and the Opta supercomputer is quite confident about the end result.

Opta supercomputer has Nottingham Forest as heavy favourites vs Sunderland

The Opta supercomputer is extremely confident of a Nottingham Forest win vs Sunderland after its latest prediction.

The data powerhouse has given the Tricky Trees a 61.5% chance of securing all three points at the City Ground.

They have a draw at 20.3%, and a Sunderland win is the most unlikely scenario at 18.2%, making Forest the heavy favourites to win.

While the supercomputer aligns with the views of pundits, Nottingham Forest will still need to be wary of their opponents.

Sunderland do still present a major threat despite being a newly promoted side.

Nottingham Forest must not get complacent

Although Ange Postecoglou’s side are expected to win, they were also expected to beat Burnley last weekend.

Sunderland have started the season well and despite the percentages the supercomputer has given, this will be a much tougher task than it appears on paper.

Sunderland have picked up more points than Nottingham Forest so far, and the Black Cats have got some good results this season.

They are averaging 1.2 goals per game and have conceded just 0.8 goals per game, setting up a cagey affair.

Complacency could be Forest’s biggest threat if they go in expecting a win; that could spell disaster.

Sunderland manager Regis Le Bris is also aware of Forest’s threats and admits they are ‘tough’ opponents.
