Evangelos Marinakis had a busy summer, as Nottingham Forest signed multiple players and replaced their manager.

The Tricky Trees made 13 signings over the course of the transfer window, and just after deadline day, they decided to hire Ange Postecoglou to take over from Nuno Espirito Santo.

However, one of the biggest stories of the summer was Morgan Gibbs-White rejecting a move to Tottenham and deciding to sign a new contract.

It came as a surprise, as all signs looked to point towards the 25-year-old departing the club. Gibbs-White admitted his ambition was his reason for wanting to leave but ultimately decided to stay due to familial reasons.

Now, more transfer speculation is circling around the player.

Morgan Gibbs-White still a target for Saudi club Al-Ahli

Despite only signing a new contract, Morgan Gibbs-White is still a player of interest for clubs in the transfer window.

According to a report from journalist Ben Jacobs via TalkSPORT, Gibbs-White has remained a target for Al-Ahli after past enquiries.

Jacobs says that Saudi clubs will be more wary of their spending and return on investment, but that exceptions will be made for elite stars, including Gibbs-White.

The report says, “Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White and Chelsea’s Andrey Santos are two other younger targets” on the radar of Saudi clubs.

Additionally, the information reiterates previous reports that Al-Ahli made an approach to sign the Englishman before he signed his new deal at the City Ground.

The approach was likely rebuffed quickly by owner Evangelos Marinakis, who made it his personal commitment to lock down the midfielder to a new deal.

Morgan Gibbs-White’s form is becoming a concern

Morgan Gibbs-White is yet to hit the same form as last season, and that is starting to become a concern.

In six matches, the midfielder has only provided one assist, and that came in Forest’s opening game against Brentford.

However, it is not just his lack of involvement that has become an issue. Gibbs-White has often been sloppy in possession and is currently ranked 6th for misplaced passes in the Premier League at 7.8 per 90.

In saying that, the player still holds immense quality, and there is no doubt that he will eventually turn things around.
