Sean Dyche makes Morgan Gibbs-White admission ahead of Nottingham Forest clash with Malmo

Nottingham Forest will lock horns with Malmo on Thursday night as the City Ground looks to reminisce about the best day in the history of the Reds.

Brian Clough led Forest to European Cup glory in 1979 when his team defeated Malmö to claim a maiden title before successfully defending it a year later.

Forest go into this game on the back of a 3-0 victory over reigning Premier League champions Liverpool and the hope will be that momentum is building.

Sean Dyche rang the changes against Sturm Graz last time out in the Europa League and now it appears he’s going to need to make some more changes tomorrow.

Morgan Gibbs-White ruled out of Malmö clash

Forest already have an extensive list of injuries to contend with and can ill-afford too many more, but that is the problem facing Dyche tomorrow with his vice-captain ruled out.

Gibbs-White often wears the armband with Ryan Yates rarely in the starting eleven, and his leadership and influence on the players will be sorely missed tomorrow.

Dyche has hinted that he hopes to have him back sooner rather than later, and he told BBC Sport what the situation is with Gibbs-White.

He said: “Just settling an issue with him (Morgan Gibbs-White), he’s going to miss this one. Hopefully it’ll settle down quickly, but we’re waiting for news.”

Dyche provides update on Ola Aina and Dilane Bakwa

Aina and Bakwa are long-term casualties from the Forest squad, and it would appear as though both players are not really close to returning.

Aina has been missing since requiring surgery on a hamstring problem sustained during the first international break back in September.

Bakwa has been injured since late September, and with Dyche’s team starting to look a little light on wingers, he will be desperate to get back involved in the season.

The head coach said: “(Ola) Aina isn’t back on the grass and (Dilane) Bakwa is still out.”

Dyche has hit the ground running as the new Forest head coach, and now he will hope to have Gibbs-White, Aina and Bakwa all in the same squad very soon.
