Nottingham Forest receive another injury blow but it could actually be good news

Nottingham Forest have a number of injury issues to contend with at the moment.

When the team was announced for the trip to Everton, Murillo was once again the glaring omission from the squad as he battles a hamstring problem and a virus.

Other injuries are rife in the squad, with Ola Aina and Chris Wood both missing most of the campaign so far to leave the squad somewhat depleted.

At Everton, Ryan Yates was introduced at half-time, but just 15 minutes later, he was on his way out of the action, limping off to be replaced.

Positive can come from Ryan Yates injury

With Ibrahim Sangare set to head to the African Cup of Nations, Forest might have no choice but to thrust Nicolas Dominguez back into the starting eleven.

Fans seem to have quite short memories as far as Dominguez is concerned, with the Argentine a huge part of the success that Forest had last season when European qualification was secured.

Alongside Elliot Anderson, he was a mainstay in midfield for large parts of the season, and this time around, Dominguez has been criminally underused.

Dominguez has been playing some games recently, but has been tasked with filling a position out wide instead of his more conventional central midfield role.

With Yates now injured, the time has surely come for Dominguez to pin down a place in the position he considers his most natural.

Dominguez deserves chance under Dyche

It’s not fair that Dominguez hasn’t even been considered the first replacement in midfield, with Yates often used from the bench instead of the Argentine.

Now, with Yates set to be out and Douglas Luiz still sidelined, surely Dominguez will get the chance to play against Utrecht, and it’s up to him to grasp the opportunity.

Who was the most disappointing Nottingham Forest player vs Everton?

Forest need to go back to basics a little bit at the moment, with the performances gradually getting worse over the last week or so.

The Reds managed to beat Wolves, but the display was far from vintage, with Dominguez only getting on the pitch in stoppage time.

Now, the Argentine can make a significant impact at the City Ground and there really is no excuse for Dyche not to pick him in his team.
