Nottingham Forest defeated FC Utrecht 2-1 in the Netherlands as the Reds made a move towards the top eight of the Europa League.

Goals from Arnaud Kalimuendo and Igor Jesus gave Sean Dyche another win in Europe and now Forest will fancy their chances of progression.

It was a performance that saw Forest play okay in periods but the fact that another goal was conceded won’t make the head coach happy.

Nottingham Forest player ratings vs FC Utrecht

John Victor – 6

Capable of brilliant saves like the one he made in the first half but he doesn’t half get the heart rate racing with some erratic moments as showcased in both halves here.

Zach Abbott – 6

Steady, if unspectacular but for a young player, we don’t want that to sound harsh. Abbott needs minutes and this is once again another invaluable experience for the player.

Murillo – 8

Forest don’t half look a better team when this man plays. He was hooked on 70 minutes and not long after, Forest conceded a goal which they hadn’t previously looked like doing.

Morato – 7

It’s no surprise that he looked much more composed alongside Murillo, a player who can take the ball out of defence and taking pressure off of Morato to feel obliged to do the same.

Oleksandr Zinchenko – 6

A welcome return to the team and he didn’t do much wrong. The defender brought some balance to the team but should have scored in the first half.

Nicolas Dominguez – 7

A brilliant display from the captain fantastic who looked a little bit emotional leading the team out prior to kick-off. Never, ever lets Nottingham Forest down.

⭐The Man of the Match for Nottingham Forest vs FC Utrecht

Let us know in the comments below…👇

Douglas Luiz – 7

Steady performance from the Brazilian and it was great to see him back on a football pitch again. He looked up for it from minute one and hopefully he’s fit enough for another 45 minutes on Sunday.

Callum Hudson-Odoi – 8

Class from the winger who is surely due a Premier League start. Hudson-Odoi constantly put the opposition on the back foot here and it was just rewards for him to get the assist for the first goal.

James McAtee – 4

The ex-Manchester City man is proving a bit of a problem. He was ineffective in the first half and after being hooked at half-time, perhaps there is something to suggest he needs a loan in January.

Dan Ndoye – 4

Another player who was once again ineffective. The Swiss performer was pretty poor throughout, although has been bumped up to a four for being involved in the winning goal.

Arnaud Kalimuendo – 7

Took his goal like a striker that had been playing every week and this was a refreshing performance from the striker – even if he does need more service.

Substitutes

Ibrahim Sangare – 7

Changed the game in Forest’s favour and looks like a diamond for Forest in Europe.

Elliot Anderson – 6

Got booked, ran around a lot but looked a little bit off the pace as he took on the role of substitute for a change.

Morgan Gibbs-White – 7

A superb ball from Gibbs-White led to the Forest winner and it’s fair to say that this substitute proved an inspired one by Dyche.

Igor Jesus – 7

Finished with aplomb and took just 82 seconds to get on the score-sheet.

Nikola Milenkovic – 6

Did what was asked of him with relative ease.
