Nottingham Forest thrashed Tottenham 3-0 in the Premier League on Sunday as the team continued to progress under Sean Dyche.

Callum Hudson-Odoi scored twice for the Reds, with Ibrahim Sangare earning praise from Theo Walcott for his performance as he scored a brilliant third goal for Forest.

It’s been a brilliant upturn in fortunes for the Reds under Dyche, and the team were helped at the weekend with Tottenham turning awfully Spursy at the perfect time.

Carragher knows Cooper well from being around the Liverpool academy earlier in his managerial career and often suggested he spoke to the Forest boss when he was in charge at the City Ground.

Now, after a scrumptious goal and dominant performance from Sangare against Tottenham, Carragher has shared what Cooper previously told him about the Ivory Coast midfielder.

He said on Sky Sports Football: “Listen, there’s no doubt about this goal. I remember when Steve Cooper first signed Ibrahim Sangare for this club, he told me how excited he was about him. Nottingham Forest are now seeing the very best of him under Sean Dyche, no doubt.”

Sangare cost Forest £30 million in the summer of 2023, and after taking some time to settle on Trentside, it now appears as though he’s starting to win over his fiercest critics.

Forest will miss Ibrahim Sangare

This performance has been brewing for a long time, but the issue for Forest is that the midfielder will now jet off to Africa for AFCON to leave the Reds – and Dyche – with a bit of a quandary.

Douglas Luiz returning to full fitness is a bit of a bonus, but with Ryan Yates and Nicolas Dominguez currently injured, there is a bit of a shortage in midfield.

The Ivorian delivered a masterclass of epic proportions against Tottenham, with a superb showing.

Sangare’s form dictates that Forest will miss him over the next few weeks, but Dyche will have prepared accordingly for this eventuality coming on the horizon.

It’s no surprise that Cooper was excited over Sangare when he signed him. Fans need to realise what the midfielder is on the pitch to do, and given his form of late, it would appear that even his harshest critics are warming to the idea of the midfielder.
