Referee named for Nottingham Forest clash with West Ham and he’s already made a huge error against the Reds

Nottingham Forest face West Ham United in a make-or-break match in the Premier League on Tuesday night.

Right now, four points separate the Hammers in 18th and the Reds in 17th, and a win for Forest would be seriously huge as the second half of the season is upon us.

Sean Dyche has overseen four successive defeats since a 3-0 win over Tottenham, however, and losing against West Ham doesn’t really bear thinking about.

Ahead of the contest, it’s been announced who the referee will be, and it might not be a particularly good omen for the Reds, given a previous Forest clash he’s reffed this season.

Referee named for Nottingham Forest against West Ham

It won’t go down too well for Forest fans to discover that Tony Harrington is the man tasked with refereeing the must-win game at Forest.

Back in September, Harrington booked Nicolas Dominguez for diving when replays clearly showed he was fouled, with Sunderland scoring from the resulting free kick.

Harrington was also in charge when Taiwo Awoniyi was forced into life-saving surgery on his intestines, although the 2-2 draw with Leicester on that occasion had little to do with the officials.

Prior to that, the referee took charge of three successive wins for Forest: a penalty shootout win over Ipswich in the FA Cup, a 2-0 win over Everton and a 1-0 win over the Tractor Boys in the Premier League.

Forest must try to win against West Ham

The big frustration with Dyche-ball, with the succession of defeats, has been that the Reds have set up not to lose rather than to win the game.

With that in mind, Forest have to go out and attack West Ham on Tuesday night with an early goal for the Reds likely to send the home crowd something that resembles toxic.

Wolves got some joy from having a go at West Ham at the weekend and now Forest must put the Hammers under increasing pressure on Tuesday night.

Another drab performance could be fatal for Dyche and if Forest could just win by hook or by crook, it should buy him some time at the very least.
