Sean Dyche call already looks like a terrible decision and Nottingham Forest could pay

Nottingham Forest are fighting for their lives towards the relegation zone in the Premier League.

Sean Dyche hasn’t done himself too many favours in recent weeks, with some drab performances over Christmas and an early FA Cup exit at the hands of Wrexham.

Forest did manage to win 2-1 against West Ham last week to put a seven-point gap between them and the relegation zone, with the situation close to being far more comfortable if only the team could find some form.

With the January transfer window now open, a striker is a must, and with that in mind, it proved curious when Dyche allowed Arnaud Kalimuendo to join Eintracht Frankfurt on loan – a decision which already looks like a mistake.

Arnaud Kalimuendo stars on Bundesliga debut

The French striker came off the bench in the second half of a 2-2 draw against Dortmund on Friday night and starred during his cameo.

Kalimuendo registered an assist that saw him play a defence-splitting ball that breached the Dortmund rearguard and showcased lots of what Forest are missing from their play under Dyche.

The striker was largely impressive throughout, and it would appear that he will get plenty of game time at his new club, with Frankfurt holding an option to buy him at the end of his loan.

Forest have left themselves desperately short in the striker department, and although Igor Jesus scored against Wrexham, he’s found goals hard to come by in the Premier League.

Kalimuendo had started to do well in Europe with the Reds and it’s quite baffling that he’s been allowed to go before a replacement has been sought.

This whole transfer typifies the chaotic nature of Forest and having three managers this season and done nothing to help the squad settle down.

Dyche is struggling to get a consistent tune out of his team at the moment, and with a boring, ultra-pragmatic style of play, it’s difficult to discover where a consistent run of form will come from.

Kalimuendo had potential and he should have been getting a run of games with Forest struggling for form, especially with Jesus struggling to score regular Premier League goals.

Dyche clearly wasn’t having Kalimuendo but it’s pretty scandalous that the Reds have simply let a top striker leave at a time when the Reds are struggling to score goals in the Premier League.
