Sean Dyche now has no excuse not to ditch £10m Nottingham Forest player after Wrexham horror show

Nottingham Forest were dumped out of the FA Cup at the first hurdle as Championship outfit Wrexham overcame the Reds on penalties.

Callum Hudson-Odoi scored twice to see Forest come from 3-0 down in the contest, but the performance against the second-tier team was nothing short of shambolic.

Wrexham deserved their win, and after Igor Jesus and Omari Hutchinson saw penalties saved in the shootout, it was the hosts who prevailed.

Sean Dyche was seething with some of his squad, with the starting eleven made up of players who badly needed more minutes on the pitch.

For one player, the time has now surely come to start giving his game time to other players instead, after a woefully inept performance.

Morato now on borrowed time at Nottingham Forest

When Forest first signed Morato for £10 million, he looked like a capable understudy to Nikola Milenkovic and Murillo, managing to help the team to a number of clean sheets after being introduced to see games out last season.

However, being a capable substitute and starting games are two different things, with the time now surely coming for Dyche to hand his minutes to anyone else.

Morato failed to step up and command a back four that was lacking in a bit of match practice, with his error for the second Wrexham goal showcasing his clear limitations.

The Brazilian was rash, looked void of confidence and failed to really showcase to Dyche that he’s capable of deputising should anything happen to Milenkovic and Murillo.

Dyche should give Morato’s minutes to Jair Cunha

Next to Morato, Forest got a small glimpse of the future, and it’s not exactly certain why Cunha hasn’t been getting more minutes out on the pitch.

The youngster was composed, calm and although he did make some errors, he owned them and typically recovered from them quickly.

Cunha does feel like a much safer option at central defence right now, and with Morato struggling badly against Wrexham, it feels as though the writing is on the wall.

Dyche spoke about players who have been knocking on his door not grasping their opportunity, and given that he remained on the pitch after the half-time cull, perhaps Morato isn’t one of those who were in the firing line.

However, this was a disappointing performance from a player who should now have settled in England and frankly, Morato has become a liability that simply can’t be trusted in the Forest team.
