Nottingham Forest player ratings vs Braga as three shocking players score 2/10

Nottingham Forest were beaten 1-0 by Braga as their hopes of automatic progression to the last 16 of the Europa League all but ended.

The Reds were miserable in the first half and when Morgan Gibbs-White missed a penalty in the second half, the writing was on the wall.

Just 54 seconds after that penalty miss, Ryan Yates unbelievably put through his own goal, with some defending that wouldn’t have looked out of place in a school playground.

Matz Sels – 6

Didn’t have a lot to do and stood no chance with the goal that Braga scored through Ryan Yates putting through his own net.

Nicolo Savona – 2

Absolutely shocking performance from the Italian. Was run ragged all night and inexplicably lost his man in the first half when Braga should have taken the lead.

Nikola Milenkovic – 5

Not the best night for Milenkovic either who didn’t look his best without his sidekick Murillo alongside him at the heart of the back four.

Morato – 6

Was probably the steadiest of the defenders called upon by Forest which tells the whole story.

Ola Aina – 4

Hit the ball with a rasping effort shortly after Braga took the lead but this was a really bad night for the Nigerian who won’t look back on his first performance in the Europa League for Forest with any fondness.

Dilane Bakwa – 2

Completely devoid of confidence, didn’t seem to want to get on the ball and it’s hard to know what Forest do with Bakwa from here.

Ryan Yates – 2

Shocking from the skipper. Answers on a postcard as to how he played 83 minutes and on this showing he won’t be getting any more minutes any time soon.

Douglas Luiz – 5

Showed some early promise but did seem to tire as the game wore on and was substituted in the second half.

James McAtee – 4

Much better in patches and he did win a penalty but he needs to do much, much more when he gets opportunities in a Forest shirt.

Morgan Gibbs-White – 3

Missed another penalty kick in the Europa League and also missed a sitter shortly after. Has to come off penalties for the foreseeable.

Dan Ndoye – 4

Offered very little but in his defence he isn’t a striker and was tasked with playing out of position. Dived late on when it seemed easier to get a shot away at goal.

Neco Williams – 5

Got booked and didn’t add the injection of energy that Dyche so desperately craved.

Callum Hudson-Odoi – 5

Very quiet, wasn’t his usual self when driving forward.

Elliot Anderson – 4

His shooting is still awful and with Dyche clearly happy for his defenders to pass the ball around amongst themselves at 1-0 down, he didn’t get on the ball much. Was sent off late on for foul and abusive language towards the referee.

Nicolas Dominguez – 5

Didn’t do much other than put himself about and foul people. Frustrating.

Ibrahim Sangare – N/A

Came on too late in the piece to make an impact.
