The Nottingham Forest PR roadshow was in full throttle mode as West Ham defeated Sunderland on Saturday afternoon.
The Hammers won 3-1 against the Black Cats to go within two points of Forest, and at half-time, the roadshow in terms of PR went into overdrive.
Forest are the masters of driving PR to avert a crisis and make the fans believe that something positive is happening, when in reality we’re not stupid!
With that in mind, one of the transfer links that emerged yesterday smacks of desperation, and in reality, Forest are becoming a bit of a banter club.
Nottingham Forest want Jean-Philippe Mateta
According to Edu’s favourite journalist in Italy, the Reds are apparently eyeing a move to really sour Crystal Palace’s strawberries and poach Mateta.
It’s clear that the striker wants to leave Selhurst Park, and it’s claimed Forest want to try and sign Mateta during the current transfer window.
Mateta has scored eight goals from 22 outings this season, and with things up in the air at Crystal Palace, he could be leaving along with manager Oliver Glasner in the coming weeks.
The French talisman looks set to depart the Eagles in the coming weeks, and it’s claimed that Forest are going to offer him a huge contract during this window.
Glasner is a huge fan of Mateta and called him ‘amazing’ last season when he was scoring the goals that eventually led to Palace
Forest won’t sign Mateta
If the 28-year-old leaves Crystal Palace, there is absolutely no way that it will be to sign for Forest.
Mateta is far too good to be playing for a team languishing in 17th place in the Premier League table, and Forest fans should avoid getting too excited with this link.

Although Mateta would be a good signing during this window, this does feel like PR in full flight once again from a Forest perspective.
Forest would welcome another striker during this window and some help for Igor Jesus and Lorenzo Lucca would be most welcome.
