Neil Warnock has a love-hate relationship with Nottingham Forest, and he’s taken aim at the club after landing a new managerial position.

Warnock is the new manager at Torquay United, who operate in the National League South, but he believes he should have got a job higher up the pyramid.

Yes or No? You decide…

The charismatic manager lives on the south coast, and he’s going to help the Devon-based outfit after they parted with their head coach last week.

Warnock has managed in the Premier League before with Cardiff City, and the 77-year-old has now comically suggested that he’s surprised he didn’t get the call from Forest.

Neil Warnock jokingly suggests he thought Nottingham Forest would call

Warnock has had some very famous wins over Forest down the years, and he’s seemingly enjoyed beating the Reds during his career.

When quizzed about his new role at Torquay, Warnock claimed that he thought Forest and Tottenham would be making calls to him.

He said: “It’s a surprise for me to be here today, I mean I thought I would have been at Tottenham or at Forest, you know, I could do a better job, couldn’t I? But no, they never asked me.”

Forest boss Vitor Pereira is currently the man trying to mastermind more points for the Reds and steer them towards safety.

With Manchester City to come tomorrow night, the chances of a third straight Premier League defeat look extremely high and a win for West Ham would put the Reds in the relegation zone.

Warnock will take his Torquay team to Farnborough for his maiden fixture in charge, and it will be fascinating to see what he can do.

In an era of media-trained interviews, it’s nice that Warnock is still bringing a sense of humour to proceedings as he starts work at Plainmoor.

Forest won’t be too bothered by these jovial comments from Warnock and perhaps in his own mind, the EFL stalwart is the greatest manager never to have managed England!
