How Serie A clubs now feel about signing Nottingham Forest star Dan Ndoye

Dan Ndoye has struggled to settle at Nottingham Forest since a big-money switch from Bologna during the summer transfer window.

The versatile forward made a brilliant start following his £30 million transfer, scoring and claiming an assist in his opening two matches.

Ndoye has since struggled to replicate his early form, however, and under Sean Dyche, he would eventually lose his place in the team to Omari Hutchinson.

Now, with Vitor Pereira trialling a three-central-defender system, Ndoye might be facing another fight to get back in the team, with clubs seemingly alerted to his potential availability.

Serie A clubs ready to move for Dan Ndoye

It would appear that several Serie A clubs are keen to make a summer move to sign Ndoye, according to Calciomercato.

Forest beat Napoli to the signature of Ndoye, and it’s thought that Antonio Conte is one manager who would still be very keen to sign him.

The Reds will almost certainly want, at the very least, the amount they paid to sign Ndoye should they sell him, although offloading him might not be the worst thing.

The consensus in Italy is that Ndoye is better than a club fighting relegation, but any Forest fan who has watched the Swiss performer knows that such a sentiment is wide of the mark.

Inter are the other team competing with Napoli for his services, and it does feel as though an exit looks inevitable for the international player.

Forest should offload Ndoye

It’s perhaps telling that when he plays for Switzerland, Ndoye operates as a right-sided wing-back, and that might just be his best position.

At Forest, the chances of him becoming a winger capable of producing regular goals and assists like Anthony Elanga did are slim.

As a result, Forest might be wise to push the reset button if relegation can be avoided and use the money on a winger who will be able to cope with the demands of the Premier League.

Ndoye’s style of play just seems more suited to Italy and as a result, it would make a lot of sense to part with him when the transfer window opens.
