The organised Nottingham Forest team Vitor Pereira can pick to batter Midtjylland

Nottingham Forest will hope to gain a first-leg advantage against Midtjylland at the City Ground tonight as the Europa League last-16 gets underway.

Vitor Pereira oversaw a brilliant 2-2 draw with Manchester City last time out, and after eight days without a game, the Reds should now be well-rested going into this one.

Forest would dearly like to get back to winning ways, and with a trip to Denmark to come next week, it would be nice if the Reds could take a lead over there.

It’s anticipated that Forest will pick a strong team in the Europa League tonight and perhaps there’s an argument for the head coach to utilise the 3-4-2-1 system that he’s deployed in recent weeks once again.

Forest’s very organised XI to beat Midtjylland

It would be a nice thought to go gung-ho tonight, get the tie won and then relax next week.

However, that looks unlikely and deploying the 3-4-2-1 system that we’ve seen from Pereira in the second half at Brighton and during the City game will go a long way towards getting the players used to the system.

Matz Sels will definitely play in goal tonight, with Jair Cunha, Murillo and Nikola Milenkovic all available to make up a back three.

At wing-backs, it looks like Neco Williams and Ola Aina will both play, with Ibrahim Sangare and Elliot Anderson both taking their places in the team after solid showings against City.

In attack, Morgan Gibbs-White looks set to captain the team, with Omari Hutchinson getting the nod ahead of Callum Hudson-Odoi as one of the two number 10 options.

Given his record in this competition, it would be a brave man to drop Igor Jesus, and he will almost certainly lead the line for the Reds this evening.

The usual suspects, including Morato, Ryan Yates and Nicolas Dominguez, should all take their place among the substitutes this evening.
