‘Technical quality’ – Why Dan Ndoye has overtaken Callum Hudson-Odoi in Vitor Pereira’s starting XI

Dan Ndoye produced a stunning cameo for Nottingham Forest against Fulham, and he might have Callum Hudson-Odoi feeling extremely worried.

The Switzerland international stepped off the bench in Sunday’s 0-0 draw, and from the moment he was introduced at half-time, Forest looked much more likely to break the deadlock.

Pick your winger for this week’s games against FC Midtjylland and Tottenham?

Ndoye did actually find the net, but on this occasion, his elbow and back heel were deemed to be a fraction offside, and the goal was ruled out by VAR.

Still, his performance has given Vitor Pereira some food for thought ahead of a big week for Forest, and there is now a big decision to be made.

Dan Ndoye has overtaken Callum Hudson-Odoi in Forest pecking order

It seems clear that Pereira will shuffle his pack for Thursday’s game against FC Midtjylland, with Forest trailing 1-0 from the first leg and knowing they have a huge game against Tottenham on Sunday.

Ndoye deserves to start the game in Denmark, and he showed the level of fight on Sunday that will be required from the Forest players if survival is to be secured.

The player arrived from Bologna in the summer, and after a promising start, he’s declined somewhat after picking up a couple of niggling injuries.

With Hudson-Odoi struggling for form and confidence, Pereira might be wise to take him out of the firing line for a game or two and persist with Ndoye.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome, and now it might be time for Pereira to mix things up a bit.

Pereira praised Ndoye and now he must act

Pereira had kind words for Ndoye after the game on Sunday, and the impact he made after his proactive substitute from the head coach was telling.

The goal that proved to be disallowed also showcased immense composure, and the challenge now will be for Ndoye to show the same again when tasked with starting games.

Hudson-Odoi played brilliantly against Tottenham in the 3-0 win at home and ahead of the return game this week, there will be a decision to be made.

However, Ndoye has shown that he deserves to play and perhaps mixing things up this week will give the Swiss performer a chance to build on his latest cameo.
