Nottingham Forest are in a very unique situation right now.
Vitor Pereira’s side are at risk of being relegated to the Championship, and yet they still have a chance of winning the Europa League.
Nottingham Forest currently reside three points above the drop zone, with seven games remaining of the Premier League season.

The East Midlanders are also in the quarter-finals of the Europa League, with a two-legged clash against Porto on the horizon.
So, with that said, we decided to ask our TalkingPoints and Facebook users whether they would rather stay up or win the Europa League and get relegated.

Nottingham Forest fans split on whether they’d rather win Europa League or survive relegation
Replying to the question above, Forest fans were pretty divided with their answers, with some desperate to stay up after such a long absence from the top flight and others explaining that silverware is what it’s all about.
- “Win the Europa League. The whole point of being in the Premier League is to get to Europe and to win a European trophy, and it’s a once-in-a-generation chance. If we go down, we can come back up, but we might not get in Europe again for decades.”
- “100% stay up. We don’t want another 23 years in the wilderness!!”
- “Definitely stay up, it took so many years to get there.”
- Win the Europa League and go down. The prize money plus the parachute payment, plus Champions League next season, would generate sufficient cash to buy the players required for promotion. The Champions League qualification alone would attract players to the club. And, of course, winning a trophy is what it’s all about.
- “Stay up for the finances of the club.”
- “Definitely win the Europa League. With all the money, it would be 1 or 2 seasons in the Championship. Majors are so hard to win.”
- “Depends if we have things in place to bounce back from relegation really! If Pereira committed himself to staying alongside a solid group of the key players, I’d maybe take Europa.”
The major upside of winning the Europa League would be qualifying for the Champions League, and that would attract a high calibre of player even in the Championship.
It’d near-enough guarantee their promotion back to the Premier League next season, so that seems like the better choice of the two.
Although, Forest are certainly capable of achieving safety and winning the Europa League, and that’ll certainly be the goal for Pereira.
The Tricky Trees are in action against at Porto tomorrow evening before a home clash against Aston Villa on the weekend.
