How Thomas Tuchel truly feels about Morgan Gibbs-White as Nottingham Forest thrash Burnley

Nottingham Forest beat Burnley 4-1 after a dominant second half saw Morgan Gibbs-White score a stunning hat-trick inside 15 minutes.

The Reds trailed at the break after Zian Flemming scored in stoppage time for the Clarets, but Vitor Pereira’s message was clear at half-time, and a trio of strikes from Gibbs-White and a late Igor Jesus goal handed Forest an important victory.

Naturally, the talk has now turned towards Gibbs-White getting back into the England reckoning, but it would appear that he might have a bit more work to do in order to impress Thomas Tuchel.

Thomas Tuchel doesn’t rate Morgan Gibbs-White

It’s been claimed by The Daily Mail that Thomas Tuchel has never been completely convinced by Gibbs-White in the past, hence his decision not to call him into last month’s 35-man squad for two friendly matches.

Tom Collomosse is the Forest reporter for the Daily Mail, and he believes that Tuchel has held reservations over how often he gives the ball away in matches.

It’s believed that Tuchel is open-minded when it comes to him getting back in the England reckoning, but with the World Cup just a couple of months away, Gibbs-White’s chances feel a little bleak.

After yesterday’s hat-trick against Burnley, Gibbs-White is the joint leading English goalscorer in the Premier League this season with 12 strikes, and that would make a mockery of the squad if he’s not included for the World Cup.

Gibbs-White can twist Tuchel’s arm

If Gibbs-White can lead Forest to European glory and keep scoring goals as the Reds chase survival, Tuchel might be left with no choice.

The World Cup is the pinnacle of any player’s career and Gibbs-White will be desperate to force his way into the reckoning for the summer tournament.

The fact that it’s even a discussion at this stage is laughable, with Gibbs-White outscoring Morgan Rogers, Cole Palmer and Phil Foden in the Premier League this season.
