It’s taken a little while, but Joe Worrall has finally been able to say a proper goodbye to the Nottingham Forest fan base.
The former Reds’ captain was sold to Burnley ahead of the 2024/25 campaign after falling out of favour under Nuno Espirito Santo and choosing to move in search of regular football.
Who was your Man of the Match vs Burnley
Worrall made over 200 appearances for Forest after coming through the academy ranks and helped the Reds remain in the Premier League following a first promotion back to the top-flight in 23 years.
The homegrown star is now at Burnley, where he very rarely gets the opportunity to play, and after an afternoon as an unused substitute, Worrall paid tribute to the Forest fans.

What Joe Worrall said after emotional Ryan Yates moment
As the Forest players performed their usual lap of honour at the end of a big win, one Burnley player remained on the turf, and it was Worrall who applauded all four sides of the City Ground alongside Ryan Yates.
Worrall clearly felt it was a good moment for him, and on Instagram afterwards, he posted: “Thank you for the reception, Forest fans. Doing a lap with Yatesy after the game brought back so many good memories. It was lovely being home. See you soon.”
Worrall came through the youth academy and gave every bead of blood, sweat and tears to the Forest cause as a ball-playing central defender.
He might have been gutted deep down not to get any minutes from Scott Parker yesterday, but Burnley were forced to chase the game in the second half.
🔠How would you rate Joe Worrall’s time as a Nottingham Forest player?
Intriguingly, Worrall has advised Forest supporters that he will see them soon, and perhaps he intends to come down to the City Ground to watch more games next season when Burnley will be back in the Championship.
Worrall will always have the backing of the Forest supporters for what he achieved at the football club and it was nice for him to really get the chance to receive an ovation from the fan base after yesterday’s game.
