Elliot Anderson scored a fifth goal as Nottingham Forest battered Sunderland at the Stadium of Light to move seven points clear of the relegation zone.

West Ham and Tottenham now have it all to do today if they’re to avoid Forest pulling completely clear of the Londoners, and Vitor Pereira’s team have more than done their bit.

Anderson has been a credit to his family following the passing of his mother, and this goal against Sunderland will have meant a lot to the midfielder.

After the game, Pereira had a lot to say about Anderson as the Forest performer flexed his credentials in a huge win for the Reds.

Vitor Pereira hails Elliot Anderson

The youngster has returned to the Forest team with a renewed focus and a desire to really help the Reds over the finish line.

Anderson has been courted by Manchester City and Manchester United, with the midfielder looking almost certain to leave the City Ground.

Pereira was quizzed on Anderson after the game and it’s clear that the boss is a huge fan of his.

He told the press: “He makes part of our family. This is the moment to be with him, to support him, to help him every day. He is a fantastic player with a strong, strong character. He is a fighter, a winner, and he proved today again that he deserves everything.”

Anderson will now hope to keep playing well and proving himself ahead of the World Cup this summer with England.

The talented midfielder has been a credit to his family over the last week, and the entire Forest fan base remains with Anderson during this sad time for him.
