Nottingham Forest are slowly but surely edging closer to Premier League survival and another season at the top table.

A 5-0 hammering of Sunderland on Friday night kept Forest five points clear of safety, with Tottenham and West Ham also claiming huge wins in their own quest to remain in the division.

How would you rate these two out of 10 this season?

A stunning record!

Forest have been in fine goalscoring form of late, with the players really stepping up and showing their desire to survive under the management of Vitor Pereira.

Now, Jamie Carragher has hailed one man and claimed that he gives the Reds the edge over Tottenham in the fight for survival.

Jamie Carragher makes Morgan Gibbs-White claim

Gibbs-White has been in outstanding form of late, taking his goal tally to 16 in all competitions with another strike against Sunderland.

He fired home after some good work from Igor Jesus, who nodded the ball down perfectly to the number 10 to finish off a very nice move.

Carragher believes that Gibbs-White is better than anything Tottenham currently have and might hold the aces when it comes to the Reds surviving this season.

He said on Monday Night Football: “But when I look at the players that Nottingham Forest have got, and West Ham, both playing with a front four, I think of Morgan Gibbs-White. I think of Jarrod Bowen. Spurs haven’t got a player in their attack who can even come close to either of those players, and that’s what worries me for Spurs.

“Now, yes, they have tough fixtures as do West Ham. But when I look at the Wolves game, and we watch the Wolves game back, and you think of the injuries they’ve got now in the attack, who is going to score a goal for them? Who’s going to create something? And I don’t think Villa away, Chelsea away.

“Tough games, no matter how you’re playing, how good a team you’ve got at Spurs.”

Gibbs-White has work to do to secure England place

Gibbs-White has his sights firmly set on the World Cup with England, and he will need to convince Thomas Tuchel that he deserves to be on the plane.

The votes are in! How would you have scored Morgan Gibbs-White out of 10 for his efforts vs Sunderland?

The only way he can do that is by continuing to score goals and help Forest keep winning in the Premier League and Europa League between now and the end of the season.

Forest are getting closer to securing their place in next season’s Premier League, but right now it looks as though things are going down to the wire.

There’s no such thing as an easy game in the Premier League but it’s fair to say that Gibbs-White’s form now looks integral to Forest beating the drop this season.
