Manchester United are chasing Champions League football again, and now a former Nottingham Forest player is in their sights.

Last season, Forest did the double over Manchester United, and the Reds still have to go to Old Trafford this season in the penultimate game of the 2025/26 campaign.

Would you take Danilo back at Nottingham Forest this summer?

Earlier this season, Forest held United to a 2-2 draw at the City Ground and the hope will be that the Reds can be competitive when they meet again.

If Forest remain in the Premier League for next season, there could be a former Trentside star lining up for the Red Devils if reports are to come to fruition.

Manchester United want Danilo

It came as a bit of a surprise when Danilo was allowed to leave Forest in the summer of 2025, with Botafogo taking him back to Brazil.

His form since checking in at the club has been unbelievable, and he’s earned recognition from Carlo Ancelotti, who has called him into the national team reckoning.

According to Fogao Net, United have now made an enquiry about the midfielder who has become a bit of a goalscoring midfielder with Botafogo.

Danilo has scored nine goals in 21 games this season and has been operating as a number 10 for his new club after playing in midfield for Forest.

The 25-year-old was a very useful player for Forest and when the Reds avoided relegation during their first year back in the Premier League, Danilo proved integral.

Now, his form has been so brilliant that United are potentially keen to sign him if the price is right and a return to the Premier League does look back on the cards.

Botafogo need to sell some players to raise funds and that could see the door swing open for Danilo to leave, and perhaps there’s an argument that Forest could actually do a lot worse than pursue the midfielder once again.
