Shay Given is a Newcastle hero, but after their 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest, it was a Reds performer who came in for some praise from him.

Forest ensured another season playing Premier League football with a share of the spoils against Newcastle, coupled with a defeat for West Ham against Arsenal.

NOTTINGHAM FOREST ARE SAFE!!!! What advice would you now give to Evangelos Marinakis ahead of next season?

Vitor Pereira has worked wonders with 16 points coming from the last eight games, and all whilst the club were still competing in European competition.

Given was impressed with the Forest performance and found time to hail a star man in the dressing room.

Shay Given raves about Elliot Anderson

Anderson stunned his former club with a late equaliser that kept the pressure on Eddie Howe after a turbulent season with Newcastle.

The young midfielder is set for greatness, and his stock will continue to rise when he goes to the World Cup with England in the summer.

Given feels that he’s inspirational in the Forest dressing room and has backed him for big things in the future.

Given said on Match of the Day: “He’s making a lot of headlines, isn’t he, and on the pitch for Nottingham Forest, he’s been absolutely inspirational.

“He shows intent to press higher up the pitch. He’s always scanning and looking for space.

“He’s an all-round action midfielder. He’s nearly covered every blade of grass, and he’s a very special player.

“There’s going to be a lot of interest in him and rightly so.”

What happens with Anderson in the summer will now come to the fore in the coming months.

First, Forest will want to finish strongly and remain unbeaten when they travel to Manchester United on Sunday and then face Bournemouth at home on the final day.

Anderson has been superb for two seasons at Forest and it will be fascinating to see what Evangelos Marinakis can recoup for his services this summer.
