Turkish club want Nottingham Forest star but it’s a complete non-starter

Nottingham Forest have secured Premier League survival, and now the recruitment planning will come into focus.

Forest were somewhat slow to get things moving last season, with the club waiting on the decision over which European competition they’d be playing in.

'Who are you picking, and why?

As a result, a number of the fringe players have been slow burners this season, and the recruitment can’t be so disjointed ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

Some players will have to leave the City Ground ahead of next season, and with the Premier League status now sorted, some links have started to emerge.

Besiktas eye Ibrahim Sangare

According to Turkish outlet Takvim, Besiktas are keen to sign Sangare this summer and will make contact with Forest to land him.

The Ivorian performer will head to the World Cup this summer with the Ivory Coast, although he’s facing a battle to play again this season.

Sangare has taken some time to settle at the City Ground since his £30 million transfer from PSV in the summer of 2023, but over the past 12 months, he’s been outstanding.

Surely Ibrahim Sangare is indespensible at the moment…

Is he your Player of the Year?

It’s hard to imagine Forest doing business for Sangare, and this does feel like a link that is a complete non-starter, with the international likely to be in the mix for the club’s Player of the Year accolade.

Forest would have to pay a fortune to replace Sangare and now that he’s finally settled in the Premier League, it feels strange that these links are even a reality at this stage.
