Nottingham Forest drew 1-1 with Newcastle United, and the result ensured Premier League survival for the Reds.

Vitor Pereira’s team got the point they needed, and coupled with a defeat for West Ham against Arsenal, it ensured another year in the Premier League for Forest.

👀YOU CAN ONLY CHOOSE ONE: Vitor Pereira or Marco Silva?

'Who are you picking, and why?

There were a number of top performers in the Forest team on Sunday as a depleted group of players battled hard to try and get something for the team.

After the game, the analysis has been rife, and Robbie Mustoe heaped praise on Forest star Elliot Anderson.

Robbie Mustoe hails Elliot Anderson

Anderson came up trumps against his former club, and the number eight grabbed the late equalising goal for Forest.

Newcastle didn’t really want to sell him in the summer of 2024, and ultimately, they are now going to regret the decision with Anderson set for stardom.

Mustoe said on The 2 Robbies podcast that Anderson upstaged Bruno Guimaraes and said he was outstanding throughout the game.

He said: “Elliot Anderson really drove through midfield, and he stormed past Bruno Guimaraes; he just left him. He scored, he got cramp, it was an excellent performance from him.

“Vitor Pereira alluded to the fact that his team were tired, but you have Omari Hutchinson come on, Chris Wood comes on, and they were much better in the second half.”

Anderson’s departure this summer will naturally leave a huge hole in the team.

As a result, it’s vital that Forest replace him properly and get a player who is on the same level or at least has the potential to be.

Anderson was excellent against Newcastle, and the midfielder will help Forest recoup a significant profit when the time does come to sell him.

The fact that he outshone one of the best midfielders in the Premier League at the weekend is telling, and Anderson is going all the way to the top.
