Gary Neville got a rare chance to see Nottingham Forest in action this afternoon as the Reds took on Manchester United.

The Reds trail at half-time courtesy of a goal from Luke Shaw, who finished brilliantly after just five minutes.

Behind at the break! What must Vitor Pereira change to get us back into the game?

United lead 1-0 through Luke Shaw.

Forest have competed though and perhaps should have scored through Morgan Gibbs-White later in the half.

Nicolas Dominguez also had a good chance but headed over and there is still some hope for Forest in this game, it would seem.

With Neville on co-commentary, the pundit couldn’t resist a sarcastic comment towards Forest in the build-up to Gibbs-White’s chance.

What Gary Neville said about Nottingham Forest in the first half vs Manchester United

When Neville made some unsavoury comments about Forest’s ownership during the 2023/24 campaign, Evangelos Marinakis responded.

The owner banned Neville from covering games for Sky Sports that took place at the City Ground, and given the nature of the comments he had every right.

That ban had still not been lifted, and when discussing the game in the 18th minute, he sarcastically said: “Well, I don’t get to watch Forest live much these days. But, they’ve got to get Morgan Gibbs-White and Elliot Anderson into those pockets more often.”

Neville was actually pretty complimentary about some of the stuff Forest tried to play in the first half and perhaps he’s keen to reconcile with Marinakis.

For now, however, he remains banned and as Forest prepare for a fifth straight season in the Premier League, it remains to be seen if Neville will be allowed back in any time soon.
