Nottingham Forest signed Arnaud Kalimuendo from Rennes last summer, but the move proved a disaster.
The striker rarely got a look in under Nuno Espirito Santo, Ange Postecoglou or Sean Dyche, before eventually joining Frankfurt on loan in January.
After 6 goals in 19 appearances for Frankfurt, surely we have to get Arnaud Kalimuendo back next season…
Let us know if you'd take the Frenchman back following his loan! 🔥
Ironically, Vitor Pereira played a system that would have likely suited Kalimuendo at Forest, and now his future appears to be uncertain.
Frankfurt would like to keep hold of Kalimuendo on a permanent basis, but a big problem has now emerged for the Bundesliga outfit.
Problem emerges in Arnaud Kalimuendo deal
According to The Athletic, Frankfurt want to keep Kalimuendo this summer, but the £27 million fee that was agreed when the loan deal went through is too much for the German outfit.
Kalimuendo bagged six goals in 19 outings for Frankfurt, and it’s no surprise that they’re keen to keep hold of him beyond the summer.
However, the Bundesliga outfit won’t be stretching to the asking price, and as a result, the player might find himself in limbo.
Kalimuendo scored two goals in the Europa League for Forest before moving to Germany and most fans were somewhat disappointed when he was loaned out.
Forest should keep Kalimuendo
Keeping the Frenchman at Forest is a no-brainer.
It’s hard to sign quality strikers, and Kalimuendo has proved that in the right system, he can score goals throughout his career.
Pereira worked wonders for a number of Forest fringe players, and there is no reason why he can’t get a tune out of Kalimuendo, too.
Selling him at a loss on what Forest paid for him 12 months ago makes no sense, and if no club comes forward to give the Reds what they crave for his services, it’d be wise to keep him around.
