Nigel Clough is a Nottingham Forest legend, and supporters monitor the fortunes of his Mansfield Town team closely.
The Reds hero is the son of legendary manager Brian, and he’s forged a brilliant managerial career of his own.
Clough led Mansfield Town to 10th place in League One last season, and it appears as though the club want to progress again in 2026/27.
The ex-Forest man has a knack for landing experienced players, and now he’s dipped into the transfer market to bring a proven EFL goalscorer to One Call Stadium.

David McGoldrick signs for Mansfield Town
He might be 38, but McGoldrick proved last season that there is life in his legs just yet with 15 League One goals for Barnsley.
The striker has been around the block a bit in recent times, turning out for Sheffield United, Derby, Notts County and Barnsley, with Mansfield his next port of call.
McGoldrick signed for Forest from Southampton in 2009 but managed just nine goals in 73 outings for the Reds and was often considered a backup to the main strikers.
The Stags will now hope that he can remain on the goal trail and utilise all of his experience to try and lift Mansfield into play-off contention next season.
McGoldrick once admitted he got better after leaving Forest
Ahead of playing against Forest for Ipswich in 2012, McGoldrick was quizzed on his time at the City Ground.
He was keen to reiterate that he had become a much better footballer in the aftermath of leaving Forest, given that minutes were hard to come by on Trentside.
He said in the media: “Since I left Forest I’ve become a proper player, I’m showing what I can do and I think they all know what a player I should have been when I was there.”
McGoldrick is a Nottingham lad, and the hope now will be that he can help Clough secure another Championship promotion in the next 12 months.
