Vitor Pereira finished the 2025/26 campaign in style with Nottingham Forest, leading the team to safety with two games remaining.
When he replaced Sean Dyche, Forest were seriously looking over their shoulder with West Ham starting to play much better and threatening a revival.

However, Pereira gave the Forest squad a newfound confidence that has rarely been seen under his predecessor, with the impact akin to that of Nuno Espirito Santo’s when he was at the City Ground.
With news last week that Pereira has stalled in contract talks with Forest, Colin Fray has shared what he’s heard about the situation.

What Colin Fray knows about Vitor Pereira’s situation
It turns out that Fray believes there is nothing to worry about when it comes to Forest or Pereira.
The decision to stall the talks appears to be an amicable one, with both parties very happy with how things are going on Trentside.
Fray told BBC Radio Nottingham: “I am obviously not privy to the contract talks themselves, but from the information I have got, both parties are happy for the current situation to go on.
“As I understand it, these talks ending are not a suggestion that either Forest are unhappy with Vitor Pereira and looking to change again, or Vitor Pereira is unhappy. I don’t think either is the case.
“There has been that little bit of interest in Pereira from Al Hilal, but he’s not interested in that and has turned that down because he wants to stay at Forest. He’s happy at Forest, and he can see a future at Forest.
“It’s hard to say exactly why they have come to this decision, but it does seem both parties are happy with him going into next season on his current contract, which still has a year left to run.”
Pereira must start well for Forest next season
It will not bode well for Pereira if Forest get off to a dodgy start during the 2026/27 campaign, and the Reds do have a tough run of games.
Pereira didn’t win any of the first 10 games he took charge of last season with Wolves, and a repeat of that would almost certainly spell the end of his Forest tenure.
The Portuguese boss has been outstanding at Forest, and as long as he’s backed in a recruitment sense this summer, it feels like the Reds can enjoy a positive campaign when domestic football gets back underway.
