Nottingham Forest star Elliot Anderson registered an assist for Jude Bellingham last week as England started their World Cup with a 4-2 win over Croatia.

Anderson came in for rave reviews after a very strong performance in the opening World Cup matches for the Three Lions.

The Forest number eight produced a very strong performance throughout the contest and didn’t look out of place as he partnered Declan Rice in midfield.

With England now ready to play Ghana tomorrow night, the debate around certain selections and player performance has rumbled on, with Gary Neville now having his say.

Gary Neville rates Elliot Anderson out of 10 vs Croatia

On the latest episode of The Overlap, the usual suspects chose to give the England players marks out of 10 for their performances against Croatia.

Anderson was in fine form after a somewhat slow start to proceedings and Neville believes he was in contention for the Man of the Match with Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham.

He said: “Elliot Anderson, I’m going 7.5 or maybe eight. I thought he was, to be fair, arguably England’s best player along with Jude and Harry Kane. I thought he was very good, Elliot Anderson.”

Anderson will have clearly done enough to get himself in the starting eleven for the next game against Ghana.

The Reds supporters have seen first hand how good Anderson is and it’s been a remarkable two years for the Geordie Maradona at the City Ground.

Neville is one of the best pundits around, and it’s quite telling that he felt that Anderson was in the mix for the Player of the Match accolade alongside Bellingham and Kane.

Anderson is almost certain to leave Forest this summer and given the form he’s currently in, he’s going to take some serious replacing.
